theese amps are great i purchased 2 of theese and 6-12 inch infinity subs in march of 2010 and wired all 6 12s up to 1ohm at the amp. both amps are in a "strapped" (master-slave) configuration. According to power acoustic that means i am pushing 6400 rms watts to 6 subs in case you are curious (i have tested this) i can be noticeably heard from 6 miles away in a city setting. i have a few more things in this system than i mentioned here but i didnt want to carry on too long. -->>EDIT>> it is now 1/2/13 and i still own both of these amps. neither has given me any trouble and i WILL buy more of them before they are gone just to always have one on hand. go PowAk

I would not listen to the Fire Hazard review. This amp DOES have a protection mode ( all amps made in the last 15 years do even the SUPER cheap ones). Fire Hazards are most likely caused my wiring that is why this amp has 4 Fuses, again to help protect you. i hooked this bad boy with to its own MDF board with Sting Roadkill on the back of the board to help eliminate vibration to the circuit board. wires up with all String 4g HPM series wire. its powering 2 two 15 L7s and it stays cool the entire time. very impressed with this amp. Uncertain at first because it is a Power Acoustik but HEY! they made a good product!

My first experience with Power Acoustik was buying a BAMF1250 as a low cost replacement for a failed big name brand model. The 1250 outperformed the more expensive amp! This time I needed a more powerful option to the JL Audio HD 900/5, as it's 500 watts on four isobarik 15" subs wasn't enough. Enter the BAMF5500. Based on my previous experience with Power Acoustik, I had high expectations for this amp, and they were exceeded. 1700 watts RMS into 4 ohms really took control of my subwoofers, and the amp doesn't break a sweat. Sound quality is superb, and the regulated power supply is most welcome and increasingly difficult to find in automotive amps today. Being an audiophile, I can assure you this amp will not disappoint from the standpoint of sound quality. The 5500 in combo with the BAMF1600/4 powering the mids and tweeters sounds incredible. All this at such a low price is almost too good to be true. No scull and crossbones or other headbanger decorations on these amps either. Highly recommended!
