5Fits and works perfectly

Even though I live in the UK, I checked the cost of a used replacement and this worked out way cheaper for my 2000 registered CL500 and that included the postage and customs costs. The item arrived within the stated delivery time frame and took about 15 minutes to fit. I would recommend that if you are considering this as a replacement - don't think twice just do it!

515 minutes to replace. V happy with my $1500 saving..

I have a 2002 S500 Merc which I drive 10 miles every day at a very slow speed with aircon on and high summer temperatures.. The radiator fan consequently works overtime. The fan started making an airplane type noise well before it failed altogether. I ordered a new fan from Amazon as soon as my old fan started making a noise, and it arrived in a couple of days, well before the fan stopped working altogether. The cost was a fraction (20%) of the original Merc cost. When the fan failed completely, a warning message "COOLANT SYSTEM - VISIT WORKSHOP" showed on my Dash with a E2 rating (important but not critical fault - car still drive-able to nearest garage). So when the fan stopped I had my Amazon spare one on hand in my garage. (Without the fan, my temperature gauge rose fro 80 degrees centigrade to 120 degrees Centigrade after about 20 mins of slow driving (still below the red line - but well above the normal 80 - 85 degrees C) The fan took 15 minutes to replace (and I am not a mechanic - I simply read some of the previous Amazon reviews) Heres How to replace the fan assembly (all you need to do is undo 2 bolts and the power plug, and the assembly lifts / slides right out):1. NB: No need to disconnect any of the radiator coolant hoses or other fluid hoses on the S500. These are thick, heavy pipes and are fastened with hose clamps. NO NEED TO DISCONNECT ANY HOES CLAMPS..2. Take off both 'snorkels' that direct air from the grille to the air filters. They're just big, hollow, flexible light plastic tubes. No tools are needed, (no hose clamps) - just massage them a bit and work them off.3. Your water hoses will be clipped onto the top of the radiator fan shroud - Unclip these by hand and push these out of the way back towards the engine block.4. The radiator fan assembly is held in place by two bolts at the top. At the bottom, it has two tags that slide into grooves, and simply slides or lifts right out. Remove the two top bolts.5. Disconnect the power plug. Slide a small screwdriver into the clip to unlatch it.6. That should be the last of the parts holding the fan assembly in place. You should be able to lift it out now. The tricky bit is the two tangs that rest in the notches at the bottom of the assembly - they stick out about an inch, and will need to be carefully angled around the coolant hoses. (you dont need to disconnect the coolant hoses) I did it by a combination of lifting and rotating the assembly about 15 degrees clockwise. This took a couple of minutes to figure out, and takes quite a bit of manovering to remove, but the fan assembly does come out without disconnecting coolant hoses (and leaking coolant everywhere) - gotta love Merc design simplicity.7. Fitting the new fan assembly is simply the reverse of removing the old one. Make sure you plug the power plug in the correct way round (it should clip into place easily - make sure the latch clicks into place).. Replace the air snorkels. Tighten the 2 fastening bolts.V pleased with my $1500 saving!!!

5$800 less than the dealer (part only)
By asepromechanic
My wife's Mercedes S-500 needed a new radiator cooling fan assembly. The bearings in the motor were failing, and you can't buy just the motor. You have to buy the entire fan assembly. The local dealer wanted over one thousand dollars ($1,000.00). The local auto recycler could get a used one, but wanted over five hundred dollars ($500.00). I found this unit on Amazon for around two hundred fifty dollars ($250.00) including shipping. The fan arrived on time and was an exact fit. Same cast metal shroud, same motor and electrical connector, same fan blade and idler bearing, same drive belt. The only difference I found, it didn't come with paper Mercedes Benz sticker.
